LinkedIn Queens Answer #812
Use this checklist to fill in LinkedIn Queens #812 from July 21, 2026. Tick off each coordinate as you place it on the 8×8 grid, then follow the timeline to see why each queen belongs where it does.
Answer checklist
Rows are counted from the top and columns from the left, so R1C1 is the top-left square. Small numbers show the order the queens are found.

Queen on R1C8 Purple
Notice that the Orange region only has candidates in row 2. Any other color in that line can be removed, which clears R2C1, R2C2, R2C3, R2C4, R2C7 and R2C8.
All remaining cells of the Blue region lie in row 3. Its queen will end up there no matter what, so the other colors lose those squares: R3C1, R3C2, R3C3, R3C7 and R3C8.
The Green region is boxed into row 4. That row belongs to it, so cross out R4C4, R4C5, R4C6, R4C7 and R4C8.
Notice that the Gray region only has candidates in row 5. Any other color in that line can be removed, which clears R5C5, R5C6, R5C7 and R5C8.
All remaining cells of the Red region lie in row 6. Its queen will end up there no matter what, so the other colors lose those squares: R6C6, R6C7 and R6C8.
The Yellow region is boxed into row 7. That row belongs to it, so cross out R7C7 and R7C8.
Notice that the Brown region only has candidates in row 8. Any other color in that line can be removed, which clears R8C8.
Column 8 has exactly one open square left, R1C8, and it belongs to the Purple region. That is where the queen goes. Crossing out its row, column, color and neighbours removes 7 candidates.
Queen on R8C7 Brown
Scan column 7: everything except R8C7 is already blocked, so the Brown region takes its queen there. After the usual cleanup (row 8, column 7, the touching squares and the rest of the color) 7 cells disappear.
Queen on R2C6 Orange
A queen on R2C5 would wipe out the Blue region completely, which can never happen in a valid answer. Cross it off.
The Orange region has nowhere else to go: R2C6 is its last legal square. 2 cells drop out once you mark the row, column and the eight surrounding squares.
Queen on R3C4 Blue
Every other cell of the Blue region has been crossed out by now, which leaves R3C4 for its queen. That rules out 4 more cells across row 3, column 4, the rest of the color and the squares touching it.
Queen on R4C1 Green
A queen on R4C2 would wipe out the Gray region completely, which can never happen in a valid answer. Cross it off.
Only R4C1 is still free inside the Green region. The queen goes there. After the usual cleanup (row 4, column 1, the touching squares and the rest of the color) 4 cells disappear.
Queen on R5C3 Gray
The Gray region has nowhere else to go: R5C3 is its last legal square. 3 cells drop out once you mark the row, column and the eight surrounding squares.
Queen on R6C5 Red
Every other cell of the Red region has been crossed out by now, which leaves R6C5 for its queen. That rules out 1 more cell across row 6, column 5, the rest of the color and the squares touching it.
Queen on R7C2 Yellow
The Yellow region is the only color still waiting, and R7C2 is its only open cell. Place the final queen there.
All 8 boxes ticked: R1C8, R2C6, R3C4, R4C1, R5C3, R6C5, R7C2 and R8C7.
Final board
Orange is the smallest region with 2 cells (queen on R2C6); Purple is the largest with 34 cells, and its queen sits on R1C8.

Check Diagonals Carefully
Diagonal attacks are easy to miss. Always check all 8 surrounding cells when placing a queen to ensure no conflicts.
Work Row by Row
Focus on completing one row at a time. This systematic approach reduces mistakes and makes the puzzle more manageable.
Look for Isolated Regions
Regions that are separated from others often have unique solutions. Identify them early to gain an advantage.
